Ellie Langley Sustainable Originals Felt and Feltmaking
Ellie makes felt using only natural, local, undyed fleeces. Many of these fleeces are from our own small flock, others are from neighbours, friends and relations.

So, for anyone concerned about environmental impacts, Ellie’s felted items are entirely sustainable. The wool is grown here, on the smallholding, made into something functional (anything from hats to tents, slippers to rugs, bags to coffins)here in Ellie’s workshop, then the sheep are sent out into the haymeadow and pasture to grow more material for the following year!

An online shop is imminent (!). In the meantime please feel free to contact Ellie for commissions or to find out about current retail outlets.

Feltmaking workshops are planned into the Slack House Farm workshops calendar, but can also be arranged for groups on request either here at the smallholding or at a venue of your choice. Ellie is also available for talks and demonstrations - and has even been persuaded, from time to time, to dress as a Viking feltmaker.

Ellie is CRB checked, has public liability insurance and is a qualified adult education tutor. She has worked extensively with private individuals, schools, community groups and charities (she has been persuaded to work with coloured fleece for some of these - absolutely no principles, you see.....).

Both book and film accompanied Ellie’s Thirty-six Thousand Days exhibition of felted life stages.
